David has a portfolio of senior management roles in the European public affairs industry and has advised over 100 of the world’s largest financial institutions, technology companies, fintechs and trade associations on their public affairs strategy, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management activities across Europe, the UK and globally. He leads Kreab’s Global Financial Services Practice and is the Founding Partner of the European Financial Policy Advisers Network – covering 10 European countries. David has worked at the European Commission, the Financial Services Authority, McKinsey & Company, and Campbell Lutyens.

Mairead McGuinness is the European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and Capital Markets Union.

The Commissioner’s vision for the portfolio is focused on ensuring the financial sector’s strength and stability, so that it can deliver for people, society and the environment.

Before joining the Commission in October 2020, Ms. McGuinness was First Vice-President of the European Parliament from 2017. She served as an MEP from Ireland for 16 years and was a Vice-President of the Parliament since 2014.

As Vice-President, she oversaw relations with national Parliaments, led the Parliament’s dialogue with religious and philosophical organisations and had responsibility for the Parliament’s communication policy.

During her time in the Parliament, Ms. McGuinness sat on a range of committees, covering agriculture, environment, public health, budgets, petitions and constitutional affairs. Her legislative work included leading for the EPP Group on the European Climate Law, the revision of medical devices legislation, and CAP reform post-2013. As an Irish MEP representing the border region, she was outspoken on Brexit and the consequences for the EU and Ireland.

In 2006-2007, Ms. McGuinness chaired the Parliament’s investigation into the collapse of the Equitable Life assurance company which identified issues around weak financial regulation.

Prior to becoming an MEP, she was an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and commentator.

Vice-President Östros’s areas of oversight include financing of energy, health and life sciences, EIB Global (development policy together with Vice-President Fayolle; pre-accession policy is with Vice-President Kakouris), financing operations in Austria, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Russia*, the ACP countries (Africa and the Pacific, except the Caribbean States and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), jointly with Vice-President Fayolle), relations with the EIB Group Audit Committee, corporate responsibility, diversity and inclusion, Legal – lending operations. Vice-President Östros also oversees relations with the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) and the European Ombudsman, relations with the Gulf countries, relations with central banks’ debt management offices, and relations with the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB).

Mario Nava is the Director-General of DG REFORM of the European Commission that he joined in 1994. Previously, he held 3 Director and 2 Heads of Unit posts in the DG for financial services. He was also President of Italian Financial Market Authority (CONSOB). He is active in research and teaching at Bocconi University (Milan) and at Solvay Business School (Brussels).

Francesco is the Chief Executive Officer at Barclays Europe. Based in Dublin, he serves on the Board of Barclays Bank Ireland PLC, and leads the Barclays Europe Executive Committee.

Francesco joined Barclays in London in 2010, as Global Head of Barclays Corporate Development, where in addition to corporate activity on Barclays’ behalf, he was responsible for all Principal Investments across Barclays Group. In 2018, he moved to the Investment Bank as Co-Head of Barclays EME Financial Institutions Group and was subsequently appointed Chief Executive Officer for Barclays Europe in 2020.

Prior to Barclays, Francesco worked as a Senior Banker at JP Morgan in New York. Before JP Morgan, he held a number of senior roles at Bear Stearns, Lazard and GE Capital.

Francesco holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from University of Oxford and a Master of Science in Economics and Philosophy from the London School of Economics.

Described in Ireland’s Better Business magazine as “one of Europe’s most prominent news figures,” Angela started her career at Sky News in 2008, working as a producer, reporter and presenter for more than a decade, before expanding her career to work for CNBC, ITV, IG, Capital.com and also for international news channel Euronews, helping to launch and anchor various new shows and is currently overseeing the channel’s business news coverage from Brussels. Angela also carries out high-segment media work for the United Nations in Geneva and has advised some of the world’s biggest banks on their media communications strategies. She also contributes regular analysis and opinion pieces to The Daily Telegraph and Yahoo Finance.

Verena Ross is the Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). She took up the role on 1 November 2021 and is responsible for representing the Authority as well as preparing the work of and chairing its Board of Supervisors and Management Board.

Between 2011 and 2021 Verena Ross served as ESMA’s first Executive Director, when she was responsible for building up the organisation and overseeing its day to day running.

Prior to this, Verena held a number of senior posts in the UK’s Financial Services Authority (FSA) and was a member of the FSA’s Executive Committee. Verena joined the FSA in 1998 to run the Executive Chairman’s office during the regulator’s start-up phase and was briefly a seconded advisor to the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission in 2000. She held various positions in the FSA’s Markets Division and was Director of Strategy & Risk Division before becoming Director of the International Division.

Verena is a German national. Following studies in Sinology and Economics in Hamburg, Taipei and London (SOAS) she began her career at the Bank of England in 1994, where she worked as an economist and banking supervisor.

José Manuel Campa, is the Chairperson of the European Banking Authority (EBA). He was appointed in March 2019 and is serving a renewable five-year term. He represents the Authority and by chairing the meetings of the Board of Supervisors and of the Management Board, he steers the strategic direction of the Authority.

From 2015 and prior to this appointment, Campa served as Global Head of Regulatory Affairs,  for the Grupo Santander.  Prior to that, he was Professor of Finance and Economics at IESE Business School.

Between 2009 and 2011 Campa served as Secretary of State for the Economy in the Ministry of Economy and Finances of Spain.  He was a member of the Financial Stability Board, the board of the European Financial Stability Facility, the Economic and Financial Committee and alternate governor in multilateral financial institutions. He has served in the Expert Group, chair by Mr. Erkki Liikanen, evaluating policy recommendations on structural reforms for the European Banking industry.

He has also taught at the Stern School of Business of New York University and at Columbia University. He has been Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research. Mr. Campa has also been a consultant to a large number of international organizations, including the International Monetary Fund, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Bank of International Settlements in Basel, and the European Commission.

He has served on the boards of Prime Collateralised Securities (PCS) Europe, Bruegel, and General de Alquiler de Maquinaria.

José Manuel Campa holds a Ph.D. and a master degree in economics from Harvard University and a Licenciatura in law and in economics from the Universidad de Oviedo.

Jenny Bofinger-Schuster was appointed as a full-time member of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) effective 1 December 2022.

Prior to joining the ISSB, Ms. Bofinger-Schuster served in multiple senior management positions at Siemens. In her last role, as Senior Vice President for sustainability and operational excellence, she was responsible for developing the company’s sustainability strategy and for implementing new disclosure requirements.Her passion is to solve strategic challenges and to ensure that sustainability is an integral part of the company’s decision making.

Before entering the world of sustainability, she held senior positions at Siemens Management Consulting and at Horváth Management Consulting, solving the toughest business challenges for her clients from different industries around the world.

Jenny Bofinger-Schuster holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Augsburg and an MBA from the University of Dayton, Ohio.

Brad Levy is the chief executive officer at Symphony, the leading financial markets’ infrastructure and technology platform.

Prior to Symphony, Brad was a partner and executive at global analytics and information provider, IHS Markit, having also served as CEO of MarkitSERV and global head of its loan settlement and software services division. Earlier in his career, he spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs, culminating in his role as managing director and global head of GS’s Principal Strategic Investments Group.

He was recently recognized as CEO of the Year at the 2022 Markets Choice Awards and included in the TabbFORUM 40 Top Innovators in Financial Markets list, highlighting Brad’s deep markets expertise and commitment to driving innovation and tackling inefficiencies in the industry. He had been previously recognized with the Markets Choice Neil DeSena Market Advocate Award for his dedication to driving change as a global leader in financial services.

Brad has served on numerous boards within the financial sector and is a sought-after advisor and speaker.

Katharine Braddick joined Barclays in March 2022 in a new role as Group Head of Strategic Policy and senior adviser to the CEO. In this capacity she will define and execute Barclays’ strategic policy agenda, aligning it to Barclays’ multi-jurisdictional government and regulatory landscape. Previously she was Director General for Financial Services at HM Treasury, in which role she also sat on the Financial Stability Board. Previously she worked at the Bank of England, where she was Director of Prudential Policy, and worked at the UK Financial Services Authority in a variety of roles. She began her career in the civil service and has also worked at the Association of British Insurers, leading on regulation of general insurance. Katharine was educated at the Universities of Warwick and Cambridge.

Martin Moloney joined the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in September 2021 as Secretary General.

Prior to joining IOSCO, Martin was Director General of the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) and before that he worked as a Special Adviser on Risk and Regulation to the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), where he served for 16 years, previously heading up the Markets Policy, Markets Supervision, and Legal and Finance Divisions respectively. Prior to joining the CBI, Martin worked for brief periods in the Department of Justice and the Irish Competition Authority, and spent ten years working in the Irish Department of Finance in positions of responsibility in relation to both national and semi-State debt management and the sale of State banks. Martin spent his early career working in Industry at Barclays Bank and the Bank of Ireland in London.

Martin has an LLM in Business Law and a Masters qualification in Economic Policy, both from Trinity College Dublin. He has Postgraduate Diplomas in Arbitration, Regulatory Management and has completed professional examinations of the Chartered Institutes of Bankers and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Eva-Maria Poptcheva (Bulgaria, 1979) is a Member of the European Parliament for Ciudadanos and a member of the European liberal group Renew Europe. She is also vice-chair of the parliamentary committee on economic and monetary affairs and substitute member of the budget committee.

She studied law at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg (Germany). She holds a PhD in European constitutional law from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where she also taught Spanish and EU constitutional law.

After a first work experience at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), Eva-Poptcheva practiced law in Germany (Baden-Baden) and Spain (Barcelona). In 2012 she passed the competitions for access to the European civil service, and started her career at the European Parliament.

She started as an analyst at the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS), focusing on issues such as Brexit and European economic governance. Subsequently, she worked as a public policy advisor in the cabinet of the Secretary General of the Parliament and then as a member of the Secretariat of the Conference on the Future of Europe. A few months before taking up the position of MEP, Eva-Maria Poptcheva was appointed Head of the Legislative Affairs Unit of the European Parliament.

Eva-Maria Poptcheva is the author of numerous academic and press publications.

Alfred Sant studied at the University of Malta, at the Institut International d’Administration Publique in Paris, and at Boston and Harvard Universities in the US. He worked as a diplomat and later as a management consultant. He served as President of the Malta Labour Party, member of the Maltese Parliament, Leader of the Labour Party and between 1996-1998 Prime Minister of Malta.
